The proposal! Excitement to start the journey. Before selecting your ideal ring, you must know the details about the diamond and what type of setting would fit your style and day-to-day life.

Your Ideal Ring
You want to choose just the right ring. But all the rings are beautiful. So how do you start to select the ideal ring to last you a lifetime?

Look at Your Style
Do you prefer white gold, yellow gold or platinum? Do you have a favorite stone? Engagement rings don’t need to be diamonds, though the diamond remains the traditional choice for betrothal rings. Do you like jewelry from a specific era, like Art Deco’s detailed styling? Do you prefer a simple design or do you want lots of bling and a big stone? Be honest about which types of jewelry you prefer when you choose your engagement ring.

Do you prefer white or yellow gold? Or do you want to be very trendy and get a rose gold engagement ring? You’ll probably want to choose the gold of your ring to match the majority of the rest of your jewelry. Most engagement rings come in silver, yellow gold, white gold, and platinum. Choose a diamond color that complements your skin tone rather than choosing the stylish metal. Your ring setting needs to please you both now and for years to come.

All About Diamond Quality
A diamond remains the focal point of most engagement rings. Most people buy the best diamond they can afford. But which diamonds are of the highest quality? See the information about choosing a quality diamond below.
A diamond’s cut refers to the way an expert diamond cutter cut the diamond. This cutter ensures that the diamond’s cut shows off the stone’s best qualities.
While some people think that the diamond’s cut is all about its shape, that’s not the whole story. If a diamond’s cut is too shallow or too deep, the cut stone doesn’t have the sparkle and shine of a well-cut diamond.

Color
Diamonds come in an impressive variety of colors. Diamond colors range from D, which is colorless, to Z, which a light yellow. You can also buy a colored diamond such as chocolate, blue, red and pink diamonds.

Clarity
The clarity of the diamonds determines the amount you’ll pay for that diamond. Diamond clarity is determined by the inclusions, which are tiny pieces of mineral debris. These inclusions can be seen under magnification, but not with the naked eye. The clearer a diamond is, the more sparkly it appears. To find a sparkly diamond without spending excess money, look for a stone that rates SI1 or SI2. Most jewelers can tell you the exact clarity rating of the stones in which you may be interested.

Carat Weight
The heavier any gemstone is, the more it will cost in most cases. Diamonds are no exception to this rule, though the other three C’s weigh in on the stone’s price, too. If you choose an excellent jeweler, that professional can make your diamond look larger than you’d think.

Cut, or Diamond Shape
When you think of a diamond shape, you may think about the marquise shape of a cut diamond. Traditionally many engagement rings include round shaped diamond rings. Other shapes of diamonds are princess, emerald, marquise, pear, oval and heart-shaped stones.

Ring setting
The setting is a place where the main stone or stones are placed into a ring. If you like to show off your diamond, choose a setting where the diamond sets up high and away from the shank of the ring, like a Tiffany setting. If you are active and use your hands a lot, choose a setting that protects the stone, like an eternity or bezel set stone. Many other types of settings exist, however, so you’ll be sure to find one that you like.

Keep these facts in mind when you shop for your engagement ring and wedding bands. You’ll soon find your ideal ring to represent your relationship for a lifetime.
